Nikon d50 manual f stop
The second most important piece of equipment is a Macro Lens. This is specifically designed lens for this type of photography, and it will not fail you. You could try to make a cheaper version, buy a cheaper lens or even use a magnifying lens, all of which will impart a degree of the magnification possible — but also create a degree of blur. The optically superb macro lens can be found in the link provided, and will last you a lifetime. The sole favorite amongst Amazon customers, currently having collected an impressive 4.
Includes an internal focus, which provides fast and quiet auto-focusing without changing the length of the lens. Here are a couple of photo examples, shot using this macro lens:. The third most important piece of equipment is a tripod. This is obviously dependent on what you intend to photograph. Depending on the object, and how likely it is to run away if you get too close, a tripod can provide the stability, and close proximity needed to capture that unique shot of a rare insect or object.
First there is the the professional tripod. Already have a tripod you say? Check it out, it is pretty cool.. Perhaps not, but it may give you an unique angle and provide you with a breath-taking photo. Because it allows you to stand at a safe distance, for example when setting up your camera next to a bee hive or other creative arenas, which in turn allows you to trigger the photos with the remote or just set it to timer shooting photos every 30 seconds or so.
Wonderful stuff! Check out the macro time lapse below for inspiration:. In this video by Waldemar Szymanski — he has combined three elements. Video not loading or displaying correctly?

So, to summarize a remote control timer will allow more distance between you and your desired subject. Whether it is wireless or or cord. The one described permits you to stand even further away from your camera, ensuring that the subject is in focus before taking the photo, and could enable you to take more unique and interesting macro images than your competitors — plus you avoid unecessary movement which is crucial to long exposure photography.
The timer has many other functions in additon to the ones mentioned. There is a good tutorial on this site for this sort of thing. If you want to freeze action, you need a fairly high shutter speed.
If you want to blur action, a slower shutter speed will allow it. Go out and experiment taking photos of moving traffic and see what you get. Welcome to a fun hobby.
Thank you Nancy. Can I set the shutter speed myself or is this done when setting the F stop. I see the F stop changes when I focus. If you shoot in "A" aperture priority mode, the opening f Stop setting is matched automatically to the shutter speed that the camera chooses. If you shoot is "S" shutter priority mode you set the shutter speed sand the camera chooses the aperture I never use this.
Is the F stop changing or the distance meter changing when you focus? If you are shooting in "P" mode, the camera cvhooses both settings f stop and shutter speed. I use "P" rarely.. You can also choose each one separately in "M" Manual mode.
You should be able to choose manual settings. Nancy, I can see when I just went to the roof of my building and took pictures of cars moving at 70 MPH. My question is when I'm indoors at a gym and shooting my daughter playing soccer, which should I set it at? What is apeture? I'm confusing the heck out myself with aperture, ISO, F stop and shutter speed. Aperture and F stop are the same thing..
Nancy, you rock! Thank you! Wish I had you email so I can bother you with questions! Thanks again, Tim. Time, you are welcome to email me. Just ckick on my name on this post and you can request my email addy.
